7 Steps to Creating Your Coloring Book Empire

kids coloring books

The key to making money online is to have some kind of product or service to sell. And as you know there are millions upon millions of options when it comes to products or services. But, finding something that is easy to produce and doesn’t take a lot of your time is the hard part. We all want the quick and easy path to profits, right?

Well, 9 out of 10 times nothing is quick and easy, but there are certain niches that you'll come across every now and then. Today I want to introduce you to one of these niches and explain how you can get started with it and start making money with it right away.

What is this niche?

Coloring books!

Over the last several years coloring books have come back and turned into hot sellers… for both kids and adults. There are so many topics, niches within this niche, and themes to use to create your coloring books. People are buying them like crazy and because they are “consumable”, they will come back for more over and over.

So, how do you quickly and easily break into this market and start your own coloring book empire? It's pretty simple!

You buy done-for-you, downloadable coloring books pages with private label rights (PLR) and start making your own coloring books. While still not easy, it is easier because you don’t have the hard work of having to create them from scratch or pay expensive designers to create them for you.

Here are the steps you need to take…

Step 1: See What's Out There

Do some research and see what's already out there and selling. You can search Amazon for coloring books and start getting a ton of ideas for your own coloring books.

Step 2: Buy All the Coloring Books PLR You Can

Once you have some ideas in mind, then you need to start searching for coloring book pages with PLR. Search Google for things like “coloring books with PLR”, “coloring pages with PLR”, etc. Buy anything that you see that you like and think you could use. Even if what you find isn't the same “theme” that you have in mind, grab what you like and put it all in a folder on your computer.

Step 3: Create Your Coloring Book Pages from PLR Coloring Pages

Once you have some coloring book pages to work with, look at the ideas that you noted down in Step 1, and see if you can take one of PLR packages and use the coloring book pages to create your first coloring book.

Generally, you can take images from several different coloring book pages and use them to create new designs (check your private label rights license for what you can and can't do), so see what you have and what you can put together. There are a ton of tutorials on YouTube that will help you do this, and you can always ask questions in our EKitHub Facebook Group.

Step 4: Create A Cover for Your New Coloring Book

The front cover of your coloring book is going to be one of the biggest parts of your coloring book that makes people want to buy it, so make sure that you use a cover that really gets attention and conveys the theme of your coloring book.

You can either create this yourself or hire someone to do it for you. But if you are not a graphic designer, then you might want to hire someone to do it for you because you want a really good looking and professional design. These designers can be found on just about any freelance site out there.

Step 5: Pick A Selling Option

At this point you'll want to start putting your coloring book together. Depending on where and how you will sell it, will determine the format and size of your coloring book.

You could create your coloring book as a downloadable (sometimes called a printable) product. With this you'll put everything together and create a PDF.

Or you could sell your coloring book through a print on demand service like Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) or any other print on demand service. The biggest benefit to using Amazon KDP is it will be sold on Amazon so if you set it up correctly, you'll be able to use the traffic that's already on Amazon or their advertising platform.

Or you could setup your own store and either sell your coloring book via a print on demand service (and they dropship it for you) or as an already printed book off of your own website. You will need to have a marketing plan to drive all the traffic to your site.

Again, do your research for options to sell your coloring book, pick one, and follow the format you need to sell on that platform to create your deliverable coloring book.

Step 6: It's Time to Launch

Once you have your coloring book all put together and ready to sell, you're going to need to launch it to the world so people can find it. You have a lot of options here.

If you're selling on Amazon KDP and have optimized your listing, you should start seeing some traffic and getting sales from the traffic on Amazon. But you could also explore other tactics to advertise and drive traffic to your new coloring book.

Paid advertising is always the fastest option, but if you don't have the budget for it right now, then you need to start researching your options for free advertising. Those tactics usually take a lot of time to see results, but if you're working with a super small budget, that might be how you need to get started.

Step 7: Rinse and Repeat

Once you have created and launched your first coloring book, then turn around and get started on the next one! This is the start of your own coloring book empire and the more coloring books you add to it, the more money you can make. With all of the coloring pages with PLR that are available, there's no end to the amount of easy-to-create coloring books that you could come up with.

Hopefully this little tutorial helps you understand how to make money with coloring book PLR that you buy. However, just like any business it takes time to know exactly what kind of coloring book you want to create, get it all setup, and get traffic to it. But this is a great little business to start with, and a lot of people are making money doing this, so why not give it a try yourself?
